| Welcome to Cokesbury United Methodist Church
We’re glad you’re here! Whether you’ve attended church your whole life or never stepped foot inside one before, Cokesbury is a safe place to bring your doubts, questions and curiosity, regardless of your beliefs or background. We invite you to come and take a look around. We have wonderful programs for children, youth, and adults alike. However, what you’ll find more than great programs is a community of people who truly desire to come together in the presence of God. You matter to God and to Cokesbury! What are the services like? Our 8:30 a.m. and 11:00am services are traditional with familiar hymns and a structured program. Our 5:00pm service, The Fountain, is a shorter, more contemporary service featuring a live band and interactive worship. Immediately following the service, we enjoy a light supper together in the fellowship hall. How should I dress? Cokesbury is a “come as you are” church. Jeans or ties are equally welcomed. What’s available for my kids? We love kids here at Cokesbury! We have children’s programs designed just for them so they can learn about God’s love for them every week in a vibrant way. Children are always welcome in the worship services. As a matter of fact, we believe it is important for our kids to be with us during the service. During the 8:30 and 11am services, a special Children’s Sermon is delivered. The shorter, more contemporary nature of our 5pm service makes it fun for kids to stay and participate. Kids are invited to participate in Children’s Church during the 11am service. Following the Children’s Sermon, the kids are escorted to their own special worship service where they sing songs, learn about Jesus, and have special learning activities. They are returned to the sanctuary to join their parents. We also offer childcare during the 8:30 and 11 a.m. worship services. Just ask one of our friendly greeters to guide you to the nursery.
Will I be asked to give money? Offerings are given as an act of worship for attendees who consider Cokesbury their home. At Cokesbury, we teach and believe in Biblical stewardship. For new guests, your presence is a gift to us. We want you to be blessed by the service without feeling any obligation to give. In fact, we have a small gift for you. Please stay and meet Pastor Bill and accept a small token from our church family to yours. How long will the church service last? Morning worship services are approximately one hour long. Our evening service, The Fountain, lasts about 40 minutes and is followed by a Fellowship Supper.
Do I have to be a member to take communion? No, all are welcome at the Lord’s Table at Cokesbury. |
